Beth Williams Gieger, Administrator:
Beth has served as the San Juan County Public Hospital District Superintendent and Administrator for Inter Island Medical Center since March 2005. Beth has over 26 years of experience in healthcare administration and management, and very much enjoys the challenges and rewards of managing community-based healthcare services in a rural environment. Beth and her family have been residents of San Juan County for 15 years and enjoy all that island life has to offer.
Carrie, Medical Coder/Administrative Support
After 3 years as the San Juan Co. Telepsychiatry Project Assistant and 1 year as administrative assistant, Carrie now works as medical coder. She's passionate about health and being healthy, and hopes to help others do the same. When Carrie's not working, she enjoys the outdoors, being active, and country music.
Cher, Receptionist:
Cher was born and raised in Colorado. She moved to Friday Harbor in 2002 to be near our Orca Whales. She has worked at IIMC for 5 years. Cher is an avid nature lover and enjoys helping people.
Denise, Referral Coordinator:
Denise is originally from Portland, Oregon, and has lived on the island for 9 years. She works at IIMC as our referral coordinator. Denise has two children and enjoys jewelry making and photography.
Julie, Receptionist:
Julie has worked at IIMC for two years now. She really enjoys being a part of the Medical Center Team.
Marlena, Patient Business/Billing Office Manager & IT Manager:
Marlena is the Patient Business/Billing Office Manager for IIMC, as well as the Information Systems Manager. She started working at IIMC Sept 1999 as Administrative Assistant and Medical Billing. She took the position of Medical Records Manager in 2000 and managed the transition of paper medical charts to EMR. She then took on the IT manager position-managing the software programs for billing, scheduling, and medical records.
She has 30+ years experience in Medical billing & Coding, Medical Records, Private Practice Office Management, Hospital and Emergency Dept Admissions, Member of Rural Health Association of WA, Medicare Compliance, Collections, Insurance, Staff Training, Financial Performance, HIPAA Policy & Procedure Certified, and Information Systems training & maintenance. She and her husband have lived in Friday Harbor since 1994.
Pam, Financial Coordinator:
Pam moved to the island in May of 2004 from South Texas. She started working at IIMC in April of 2005. In December of 2005 she became our Financial Coordinator. Pam was honored as the Inter Island Medical Center Employee of the Year for 2006. She received her business degree from Texas A&M University and is a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She has 21 years of administrative and accounting experience and enjoys working at the medical center and living in such a beautiful area. She enjoys creative hobbies such as photography, interior design, and artistic cooking. She is affectionately known as the clinic's "Martha Stewart." She also spends as much time exploring the outdoors as possible.
Tina, Insurance Specialist
Tina moved to San Juan Island from Marysville 4 years ago. She works as our Insurance Specialist and has over 25 years in this field at a variety of mainland facilities. She and her husband have three daughters. Tina enjoys basketball, softball, and track.
